Since the formation of the city branch in the early seventies with a handful of anaesthesiologists as members, ISA, Bangalore branch has grown by leaps and bounds to the current strength of over 850 life members.
The ISA, Bangalore branch regularly conducts scientific meetings to update both the knowledge and the skills of its members to fulfill the requirement of high quality anaesthesia care for patients. There are several programmes to nurture the young post graduates in anaesthesia at the early stage of their career. Similarly, practising anaesthesiologists are provided opportunity to enhance their clinical knowledge through monthly academic meetings, continued medical education (CME) programmes and conferences.
Patients, who are the main stakeholders, are also educated and updated about the specialty of anaesthesia, role of the anaesthesiologists play in the peri-operative period, in assessing and managing acute and chronic pain, and their contributions in the management of critically ill patients in the intensive care units through regular public and patient awareness programmes across the city.
